As a singer songwriter Don Scribner takes an educated three pronged approach to country music. He pays tribute to the past, reflects the present and forecasts the future of the genre.

Don Scribner “Time Wins All Races“
On his new album, Scribner adds a new star to his resume as singer/songwriter. Think Kris Kristofferson but with a more California slant, someone who can laser-in on life’s foibles and make them a little more understandable. There is such a timeless quality to songs like “It Is What It Is”, “Responsibility Has Two Sides” and “Welcome Home Mama” that Don Scribner starts to sound like a modern sage, and all the challenges of living in the modern world become not quite so daunting. Son Corey Scribner contributes his original “Rosalita” to show not only the strength of ties to family but also there’s a lot to be said for strong genes. Don Scribner is a musician who knows the odds of making it through the musical maze but is not only up for the challenge, but able to rise right to the top with an album of astonishing insight and inspiration.
I Know The Devil

Studio City Sun
VOL 4 NO 13
by Bill Bentley
Don Scribner’s “I Know The Devil” is another home run in the country crowd from someone who’s seen his share of living and isn’t afraid to show it. Scribner wears his heart on his sleeve, allowing the years of lost and found love to shine through loud and clear. He’s got a character-filled voice that comes from believing in what you’re doing and a backing band that knows exactly what each song needs. These days, it’s not easy guessing what style is in or out of favor in Nashville, but artists like Scribner and Hand have a way of blasting right past those concerns, reaching a place where real country lives, played for those who could care less about skin and trends. This is a lonesome sound and whether it will make a dent on Music Row or not is beside the point. Don Scribner is the kind of singer that does this because he has to, not because he wants to, which is exactly why I Know The Devil is such a contender.

How lucky we are that we have this music in Melbourne Country. Don has brought a freshness back to the music that had seemed to be lost under big black hats and fancy stage shows sung by people who are as country as l am. … wonderful lyricist and singer. . Tell stories he does. From one track to the next the interest grows as does the satisfaction and smile on the face with each and every song. WONDERFUL CD.

Don Scribner has turned out one of the finest country CD’s of the year with I Know The Devil. It’s a CD pack full of songs that inspire hope and cry out to be heard again and again. My favorite cuts are Life Past Forty, I Know The Devil, Let’s Make It Right and Press Your Lips To Mine, but each of the 12 tracks on the album are worthy of airplay. If you want to hear country as it should be, don’t miss this gem. Congratulations Don on a fitting entry to the country music scene.

It’s good to hear a Real Country Album for a change instead of the Nashville pop. An excellent album of well crafted self penned songs… I have been playing “Life Past Forty”, “Big Fish”, “I Know the Devil” and the lovely duet “The Magic’s There” and no doubt I will be playing others as well.
